Join Us to Learn and Discuss Wellbeing in Community!
This three part Wellness Workshop Series is facilitated by the Santa Barbara Wellness Project (SBWP) in collaboration with SBCC Student Health Services’ The WELL.
Wellness Workshop Series:
3/14/22 Workshop 1: What is “wellbeing”?
3/28/22 Workshop 2: Relaxation & Mindfulness
4/11/22 Workshop 3: Problem Solving Skills & Connection to Others
Workshop Series Description:
In each SBWP workshop, basic wellness skills are emphasized: self-management of existing emotional and physical responses to life’s challenges (i.e., relaxation training), problem-solving, decision-making, and communication - all with attention to how our beliefs about ourselves and our heritage/ethnic identities can be a source of strength. Every effort is made to adapt our programming to address the prevailing needs of the participants.
The Wellness Workshop Series will be facilitated by SBWP’s:
Melissa Morgan, PhD. and Associate Professor in the Department of Counseling, Clinical and School Psychology at UCSB and a SBWP Wellness Core Group Member.
Elana Hubert, a Doctoral Student at UCSB and a SBWP Wellness Member.
Erick Felix, a Doctoral Student in the Counseling, Clinical and School Psychology program at UCSB with an emphasis in Counseling Psychology.
The Santa Barbara Wellness Project (SBWP) was initially a response to the crisis of the suicides of Latino teens in the County in 2009. Since then, SBWP has trained hundreds of community members and mental health professionals in general wellness skills. Over the past several years, the project has evolved into a more general wellness training program that provides skills to manage stress and problems effectively.
